TEN / SUMMER SLIDES

hi again! lately i feel like i’m starting all of my posts this way, but here goes again — it’s been a minute...or a few months.

that’s life right? everything has been really busy, and time never slows down. i spend a lot of time working on my computer and really need a break from screen-time; turning on my computer at home always feels exhausting. but i really miss blogging! and want to commit more time to getting inspired again in this space. so why not start with a post about slides — my summer shoe obsession of 2019. i’m sharing 10 cute options from around the internet, buuut if i had to choose my favorite, it would be the tkees gemma sandals (i own 2 colors, and am plotting buying a third). they are truly perfection.

VERY COZY

after several days of really cold temperatures, i’m ready to trade in my everyday leather boots for a snakeskin pair. nothing personal (i adore those boots) i’m just searching for little ways to brighten up these winter days. you feel me? whenever i feel like i’m wearing the same sweaters every week, i will play with different accessories like bold earrings, or an unexpected purse to switch things up. lately i’ve been on the hunt for a pair of snakeskin boots, a fresh alternative to leopard, and a print i don’t own too much of. these loeffler randall boots are v. luxurious — i would pair them with something more casual like a textured, oversized knit, simple straight jeans and chunky gold earrings. so cute for work or out to sunday brunch.

TEN / MUST HAVE MULES FOR SPRING

out of all of my warm weather shoes, my favorites are the ones i can easily slip on and off -- not that i'd pass up a pair of strappy sandals, mind you. but this spring i'm completely on team mule. i recently bought this snakeskin pair from J.Crew, and it's left me wanting more! who knew i could fall so far for a pair of shoes (wink!). i'm pretty convinced they're a new closet staple, and why not? mules are comfy and basically effortless. plus there are literally hundreds of different options, which means you'll find a mule that fits your personal style. just another reason to love 'em.

THE COLLECTION WITH THE SNAKESKIN TRENCH COAT

happy Monday! i am lucky enough to have today off (happy president's day!), and am planning on spending it doing things i normally couldn't do during the week. like spend my morning blogging in the parlor, or going on a midday walk with foxy around the neighborhood. the possibilities feel endless!

rochas pre-fall 2017 collection | @themissprints

since nyfw just ended, i thought it was time to do another "the collection with..." story.  this is Rochas Pre-Fall 2017 collection, and it has a lot of great moments: the colors (yellows, blush, peacock blue, and elephant gray), ankle-strap platforms with thick socks, snakeskin, fuzzy coats, golden brocade layered with preppy turtlenecks, delicate florals, velvet, monograms and imperfect hair.

i was drawn to this collection partly because of the presentation. these photos are full of movement, capturing those awkward, but wonderful in between moments. an unexpected pairing with proper, aristocratic garb.

let's face it, for 2017 muppet fuzz is in -- whether it be a sandal covered in fluffy pom poms, or the warmest jacket you own. it's bright, bold and colorful. Rochas collection includes a faux fur coat in mustard gold and blush pink (keep on scrolling to see that one).

florals and animal prints are a classic pattern mixing combination. in this instance, it's gray snakeskin and granny roses. below is the amazing snakeskin trench coat that inspired me to share this collection in the first place. i'm officially convinced that every girl needs a statement trench in their closet, and a trench made out of this snakeskin pattern feels unexpected but timeless.

the red snakeskin used in Rochas' collection is truly beautiful. in my opinion, colored snakeskin can run a fine line between impossibly chic and tacky, especially if it's red. but here, it totally works. i especially love how this skirt has been styled -- paired with an effortless rose colored tank, and luxe velvet pumps.

AN ART MUSEUM DATE
what to wear on a date | @themissprints

i love a good date at the art museum. it's something my boyfriend and i will do every few months especially on a rainy day. living in Boston, we're so lucky to be surrounded by so many great options, including a few of our favorites: the Museum of Fine ArtsICAHarvard Art Museums and the RISD Museum in Providence. this drop-waist LBD is something i'd wear to one of these outings -- it has that easy, classic silhouette that i am forever drawn to. i would pair it with something masculine, like a pair of Loeffler Randall snakeskin loafers. a fun clutch (seriously how fun is this pool girl clutch?) and red lipstick.

LOVING LOEFFLER / ACCESSORIES FOR FALL

Loeffler Randall is one of those designers that i religiously follow. in fact, they may be my favorite accessory designer to date. everything is perfectly curated -- from their social, newsletters and website, to the ridiculously stylish designer herself, Jessie Randall. not to mention their shoes, bags, and patterns! i covet pretty much all of Loeffler Randall's world.

with that said, it's always a treat to see what Loeffler Randall has up their sleeves when a new collection is launched. LR has a fresh, effortless approach, and their fall/winter collection for 2016 does not disappoint:

the secret sauce behind their success is so simple: design for what they would want to see in their closets. brilliant right? this fall, that means fluffy rainbow fur, ankle straps, snakeskin, bold red, and rich floral embroidery.

this season was inspired by natural elements and earthy neutral colors, accented by pops of red, orange, and powder blue. The collection has a luxe-bohemian vibe to it, with suede, fringe, and floral embroidery.

it's always fun to see the design process behind a collection, and LR does it so well -- giving their customers a transparent sneak peek into what exactly caught their eye though these cute handwritten mood boards.

these bright red mid-heels with ankle straps are on my wish list. a practical stunner (especially for navigating the uneven cobblestone streets right outside my office) they are an updated version of last year's it-shoe.

i must confess that am not a huge fan of wearing fur, but i do appreciate the beauty of these fluffy accessories: polka dots in primary colors and bags in amorphous shapes.

between the bright colors, lady-like florals, and bold reds, is the perfect neutral snakeskin. i'm officially predicting that snakeskin will make a comeback this fall. i've spotted this animal print in several collections, including JCrew's RTW Fall. a nice alternative to leopard!

new textures — fur, horsehair, suede, and python — makes for a sophisticated yet cozy look.

THE COLLECTION WITH THE PINEAPPLE DRESS
valentino resort 2017 | @themissprints

so far this summer has been quick (how is it august 1st already?), and very, very hot. even though we're smack in the middle of a major heatwave, i'm dreaming of running off to an island vacation.

Valentino's 2017 resort collection is a new favorite, and really captures my palm-tree-state-of-mind right now. it was inspired by Cuba, with cheerful tropical patterns: pineapples, hibiscus flowers, parrots, palm leaves and snakeskin.

it's the dream vacation wardrobe -- bright and bold, with a 1950s elegance. i love the tea length skirts and ladylike shapes.

while ruffled off-the-shoulder tops are all the rage right now, this simple knitted tunic feels fresh. especially when paired with piles of prints.

this floral pattern reminds me of a modern Marie Antoinette. also, note the pineapple earrings. #dies

plus stripes.

THE COLLECTION WITH THE SNAKE DRESS
gucci pre-fall 2016 collection | @themissprints

ahhhhh the world that Gucci lives in. i'm about ready to crawl inside their universe where cat sweaters, berets, and ankle strap heels are the uniform of life. i, for one, am a huge fan of the designs that are coming out of the House of Gucci as of late.

which brings me back to this post, and why i am sharing this collection with you. i think it's safe to say this: the 1970s are having a moment. and frankly, i really dig it. the now-ubiquitous embroidered jacket, bold primary colors, even flared jeans are all back, and feeling as fresh and exciting as ever. Gucci's newest designs (first found on Pinterest, of course) are what a 70s revival should look like: 1970s vibes but mixed with French cool-girl, and a little crazy cat lady.

i was really inspired by these pieces and how they were styled. i hope you are too. enjoy!

THE COLLECTION WITH THE BUBBLEGUM PINK FAUX FUR JACKET
MAJOR PATTERN MIXING AT JCREW 2016 FALL RTW

MAJOR PATTERN MIXING AT JCREW 2016 FALL RTW

the J.Crew Fall RTW Collection for 2016 is pretty great -- classic menswear-inspired pieces, perfectly causal shapes, and really fun styling. the collection comes in a weirdly sophisticated mixture of bright magenta, oxblood, blush, bubble gum pink, pastel blue, cool grays, caramel, navy, taxi cab yellow, and green. did i miss any?

there also is a parka with a pink fur trimmed parka.

the shooooes make me happy: loafers, lace-up flats, and a pointy toe snakeskin pair (see below) that i'm practically in love with.

jcrew 2016 fall rtw | @themissprints

the patterns and pattern mixing though....(!).

snakeskin, argyle, leopard, geometric lines, stripes, houndstooth, and a bunch of different florals.

jcrew 2016 fall rtw | @themissprints

an abstract floral print on a black background: you really can wear florals in fall and winter.

then, pair it with stripes.

jcrew 2016 fall rtw | @themissprints
jcrew 2016 fall rtw | @themissprints

i think this is such a fun look: a scarf, belt, FOUR different patterns and pastel pants. then throw on a bubblegum pink (and widely coveted) faux fur jacket for good measure. phew. it's so wacky it works.

jcrew 2016 fall rtw | @themissprints

a cool clash of leopard and Lilly Pulitzer-inspired florals. so into the shape of this leopard coat.

mixing print neutrals: florals, stripes and leopard (lace up flats? heels? i want/need a pair either way).

jcrew 2016 fall rtw | @themissprints

this makes me want to try mixing two animal prints, like leopard with snakeskin.
