TEN / SUMMER SLIDES

hi again! lately i feel like i’m starting all of my posts this way, but here goes again — it’s been a minute...or a few months.

that’s life right? everything has been really busy, and time never slows down. i spend a lot of time working on my computer and really need a break from screen-time; turning on my computer at home always feels exhausting. but i really miss blogging! and want to commit more time to getting inspired again in this space. so why not start with a post about slides — my summer shoe obsession of 2019. i’m sharing 10 cute options from around the internet, buuut if i had to choose my favorite, it would be the tkees gemma sandals (i own 2 colors, and am plotting buying a third). they are truly perfection.

FROM MY SHOPPING CART / 03

february went by soquickly and now it’s already mid-march — what! the last six weeks were a complete blur. overall february was a good month, ending with an impromptu weekend getaway to new hampshire. the snow was up to our waist, our phones were out of reach, and we made too many bloody marys over three days. it was exactly what i needed. beyond work and my brief technology detox, i’ve been doing p-l-e-n-t-y of window shopping. lots of good things from urban outfitters and lou and grey:

feb-cart-terrazzo-candle.jpg

target sells the best candles imho. they smell amazing and come in really cute containers — i almost always buy (or want to buy) a new candle when i’m shopping there. this terrazzo option is especially good. not only is terrazzo very in right now, this is also an inexpensive and low-commitment way to play with this trend.

i found this website through pinterest and am so tempted to buy something: epherma forever sells vintage magazines like these gorgeous issues of vogue and architectural digest from the 40s and 70s. so cool, right?

FROM MY SHOPPING CART / 02

hello friends! i'm back with another intriguing look inside my shopping cart(s): the things i bought and what i left behind. today's list is definitely longer than my last post, but it's packed with some top-notch finds including this amazing embroidered circle bag from claire v. (below) and a really really good pair of white mary jane sides that have a cool heel. i've also include a few goodies for your home (clearly still inspired by my most recent post), because everyone needs a watermelon pillow to complete their living room, right?

go on, take a peek!

i've gushed about boston designer artemis design co on this blog before, so you may already know i'm a big fan. i was thrilled when they teamed up with another fashion love of mine, madewell, for a cheery collection of slides. i love the stripes -- fun colors!

NEW ARRIVALS / CB2 FALL

never have i ever connected with a collection of home wares as deeply as i have with cb2's fall arrivals. take a minute to appreciate it all: the cane furniture, pops of dandelion yellow, vintage vibes, and that shell armchair -- all of it is coming home with me. (or so i wish). but as i drift back to planet earth, i still feel the need to transform my personal aesthetic to match this perfectly curated collection of vintage meets modern. one that is effortless and worldly, but still comfortable and inviting; like you're always just coming back from a trip abroad with that perfect found piece for your home in tow. yeah, i could live with that.

in all seriousness, this fall collection is really good and was worth sharing. i managed to narrow allll of cb2's new arrivals down to 12 favorites, but if i had to choose i think my #1 has to be the cane desk -- it feels so glamorous.

FROM MY SHOPPING CART

i hope you had a great fourth! after the holiday i found myself with some extra downtime, so i obviously spent it window shopping on the internet (one of my guilty pleasures). Every time i fall down the shopping rabbit hole, i have a habit of filling multiple shopping carts before abandoning them. I do stick to one golden rule when i go through one of these browsing binges though: i need to wait a few days before actually buying anything from my cart(s), and if i am still thinking about that dress, those sandals, or those earrings etc. etc. then i'll totally cave. does anyone else do that? i swear it helps me minimize my impulsive purchases. so while i wait to see what sticks, i thought it would be fun to share what i have in my cart right now: a few things that are still on my mind and some that i've already bought. go on, take a look!

just bought this dress from everlane and i like it even more than i thought i would. an ideal length (not too long, but also not awkward), easy fabric, stripes. i would definitely recommend grabbing one for summer!

POOL DAY / A DAY ABOUT TOWN

my philosophy for my summer wardrobe is based around utility. it was 95 degrees last week and let's be honest, it's hard to think in that kind of weather, so getting dressed needs to be a literal breeze. my favorite pieces are those that i can (and want to) wear over and over again. i look for items that can be dressed up or down depending on my mood or activity, AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO THROW something TOGETHER WITHOUT MUCH THOUGHT OR PLANNING -- AKA classic silhouettes that can be mixed and matched easily. basically i stick to a uniform made out of BREEZY fabrics and cute accessories, and i try to wear as many stripes as humanly possible. THIS LOOK IS COMPRISED OF PIECES THAT CHECK ALL OF THOSE BOXES: THE LINEN SKIRT IS SUCH A VERSATILE BASIC, THE STRIPED SUIT CAN TOTALLY DOUBLE AS AN CHIC TOP IF NEEDED, AND THOSE LEOPARD SLIDES GO WITH...PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING.

NEW ARRIVALS / SPRING CLOTHES FROM NEED SUPPLY CO.

lately, all i want to do is shop. need supply co is one of my favorite sites to browse -- it's incredibly curated, and the pieces always feel special and fresh. during one of my last online window-shopping sprees i stopped by need supply co, and found myself wanting everything, even things i usually don't think i'd like. for example, i never thought i'd have a pair of blue ruffle trousers on my radar, but now i need them in my life! so today i wanted to share some of the pieces i liked the most from need supply's new spring arrivals because it's too good not to (and let's be honest: this doesn't include the home section, that's a whole different story):

TEN / DREAM CHAIRS FOR YOUR LIVING ROOM

i recently replaced a pair of old, hand-me-down sofas with two new mid-century pieces that i found for an amazing deal. (a really amazing deal). they completely transformed the space and it feels so good! i still need a few more pieces to really tie the room together -- including a new coffee table, rug and tv stand, plus important accessories like pillows and blankets. i'm also toying with the idea of adding a funky accent chair for additional seating and for added interest. i want something that will really stand out. as usual, i started browsing options that are really out of my price range. but what i found was too good not to share: i would do anything to own the floral armchair that is beaded by hand and takes over three months to make. wouldn't you?! it's amazing.

so yeah, this is basically a slightly impractical list of chair-art:

NINE / FAUX FUR COATS FOR A COZY FALL
faux-fur-jackets.png

after a few gross days of humid, sticky weather, we're finally seeing fall-like temperatures here in Boston. and it's about time! i can't wait to start wearing boots, sweaters, and coats (my favorite). almost every year i'll treat myself to a new coat for the season -- since i wear a jacket every day for so many months, i like having a few options to brighten my mood and my mostly all-black winter uniform. this year i'm on the hunt for a cozy faux fur coat to add to the collection. there are so many options it's so hard to pick: do i go with something classic like stripes or leopard? or do i take the plunge and go for something over-the-top?

ARTEMIS DESIGN CO. / KILIM SLIDES

back talking about slides again! and trust me these are goooood.

if you're a shoe addict like me, then you need to check out Artemis Design Co. -- a local shoe and accessories designer from the South End in Boston. Artemis Design Co is most known for their kilim* loafers, smoking shoes, bags and more recently, slides that come in an array of colors and designs. aren't they beautiful? the company's founder, Millicent Armstrong, travels to Turkey to source damaged kilim that is transformed into her signature "flying carpet shoe". each shoe is made by hand in a Turkish artisan workshop in Istanbul -- they're truly a special item to own. i have a pair of the classic loafers, and am waiting for the right moment to grab a pair of these slides too. so many great colors for fall -- let me know your favorites, i love them all!
