hello! i wanted to share this cool moodboard with you guys — i put this together the night before i started my new job (!!!) and it’s a peek of what i’ve been inspired by over the past week. lately that means mustard with mauve, the square tiles we recently added to our kitchen, and my obvious obsession with 70s decor. this roundup is not quite holiday, but has wintery vibes: silver stars, chanel sheepskin jacket (yes), oversized statement earrings, black strappy sandals, fig tarts, pink hair…all so good:
straw bags are all the rage this summer, and i'm fully embracing it. in fact, a straw bag is the perfect finishing touch to a casual summer dress, and is every beach goer's must-have accessory. these natural beauties have been on my wish list for the past few months, and i think i'm close to finding my perfect match. since there are so many great options out there, i wanted to share ten of my favorites -- from stripes, to fringe, and polka dots, i kind of want them all:
SHOP STRAW BAGS

i have been shopping too. much. lately. i think it's the promise of spring, or because i'm ready to go on a vacation -- either way, i've been window-shopping like it's my job. thankfully, my wish list is far longer than the list of items that i actually end up buying and keeping (phew!). always scheming my next purchase, i suppose.
speaking of: Anthropologie has so many great things right now, that it was worth a blog post. i'm talking about statement earrings, embroidered prints, a jumpsuit i need and some really good shoes -- shop what i'm eyeballing below, and let me know your favorites!
a gal's closet needs a great denim jacket. i love the white leopard embroidery on this option.
lots of embroidered details in Anthro's new arrivals, including this blouse with red embroidery.
raw hemmed jeans look extra cool with a cutout detail.
striped pants for beach days.
these are pure magic: satin princess sandals with a floral gemstone.
a little Bridget Bardot print-mixing for your Friday morning!
i especially adore these abstract paint swatches by New Orleans artist Logan Ledford. you may have spotted her work on Pinterest (at least that's how i stumbled upon this piece!) and it is all fresh and inspiring. i especially love her unapologetic use of color. Logan is seriously cool so be sure to visit her website here. am considering writing a MUSE feature about this lovely lady; it's been awhile since i did one of those! stay tuned..!
exciting news for Boston area art lovers! a Henri Matisse exhibit is coming to the Museum of Fine Arts this April. spending an afternoon at the MFA is always a treat, and i am super excited for this one to open. titled "Matisse in Studio", you will be able to explore the French artist's creative process, and see how objects from his studio served as inspiration for his famous pieces of art.
Matisse was greatly inspired by his surroundings (something i think most of us can relate to), and April's exhibition will be the first that offers a side by side comparison of his artwork to the actual items they were inspired by. interesting, right?
Matisse's work is bright and often filled with patterns, like his iconic seaweed-like cutouts (above).
the countdown to april begins!
i made this post back in October when fall was on my mind, but never got around to publishing it. better late than never, right?
fall is, hands down, my favorite time of year. for us New Englanders, fall is nature's moment in the spotlight and it really is as magical as people say it is. it's when Boston turns deep scarlet, gold, and bright orange, and when mornings become brisk and chilly -- you start to crave those cozy layers and wool sweaters after months of long summer days. although winter has a bad reputation around here i am one of those people who loves freshly fallen snow, and heavy coats.
the cooler months are also one of my favorites time for fashion. now that the holidays are here, it means the return of wearing plaid and reaching for pieces that layer. it also means reinvention and experimentation for fresh trends. right now it's luxe velvet and fuzzy stuffed animal furs. i've seen a major resurgence of embroidery motifs, irreverent sayings, as well as abstract lines reminiscent of Matisse. the 70s trend is also pretty great, and feels more 'now' when paired with blush (the color of the moment) mustard, and marble.
so without further ado, here are a few of my favorite things right now --

even though i'm no longer in school, i get the itch to refresh my office supplies every August. especially when stores start bringing in the cutest notebooks, agendas, pens and pencils, and bags in the land (i'm looking at you Target). this time of year has always felt like a fresh start to me, so i couldn't think of a better way to reflect and plot for the future than by indulging in a little back-to-school shopping. this season i'm hunting for a couple of inspiring goodies, and a place to write down all of those daydreams.
