Posts in MY STYLE

hello there! it’s been a while since I’ve jumped on here so it’s about time for a new post. during my unintended hiatus, i’ve tackled a few personal goals (starting the dreaded closet purge which is the worst), and accomplished some professional goals (presenting on a panel about social media and small business — a big one for me this month!) and sadly blogging is always the first project that takes a backseat. But i’m back because fall is officially here, which means a new season, fresh starts and oh so many good patterns. but more on that later.

today, i’m talking about hair — my hair specifically! September has always been my favorite time of year; there’s something about that crisp air that generates a feeling of newness, and it’s so motivating. i treat fall like a head-start to the new year, and the first thing i tackle come September is making an appointment for a fresh cut and color. cutting off dead-ends, hiding those creeping grays (eek!), and introducing a shape back into my ‘do does wonders for my confidence and overall attitude. with new hair, i feel like i can take on anything!

if you’re anything like my friends and I, finding the right hairstylist in the city is always challenge. luckily i’ve stumbled upon an absolute gem — one who needs to be shared!

meet Allie K: boston hair stylist, balayage queen and all around amazing human being. since my first appointment with her, i’ve trusted allie completely with my hair. she just gets me. when i walked into her salon at the beginning of the month, i gave her full creative control for both cut and color. the result: possibly my favorite hairstyle i’ve ever had! i am obsessed with the honey color, and the blunt cut.

i have a lotttt of hair and Allie managed to take the weight out, giving me a modern cut with movement and versatility. rather than throwing my hair up in a bun (my go-to), i can’t help but wear it down as much as possible!

one more thing? i adore the thoughtful placement of color. those face framing highlights really brighten my skin tone, and i can achieve a brand new look simply by changing my part. i’ve gotten a handful of compliments from friends, colleges and strangers since walking out of allie’s chair — the mark of an amazing hairdresser for sure!

all in all, i love my new look and am ready to conquer what this season throws at me.

if you’re interested in booking an appointment with allie, she is currently accepting new clients at Salon de cheveux in south boston. and please tell her i sent you her way! i promise, you will love her as much as i do!

forever 21 utility jacket | @themissprints

since my boyfriend rarely shops for himself, i always try to grab him a little something for his closet a when i find myself in the men's section. i swear i had good intentions when i bought this military-inspired jacket from Forever 21, but ended up wanting to wear it...all the time.

maybe we could share!?

luckily for me, the utility jacket i picked wasn't really his style (too many bells and whistles i suppose). i'm considering this as my new spring coat -- it goes with everything!

hello! and happy Monday!

today i'm excited to bring you some good old Americana print-spiration in partnership with Chaps -- think nautical details, faded denim, pops of red and stripes galore.

as always, the Chaps collection stayed true to their heritage of American style. every piece is classically casual, yet fresh, and very New England.

i can imagine myself living in this super-soft striped top all spring and summer long: walking on the beach, grabbing fried clams or fresh lobster from my favorite seaside clam shacks, and doing some sightseeing with my trusty pup by my side. maybe an ice cream pitstop thrown in? you know it. this New England gal approves!

Chaps came to Boston to shoot their 2016 Spring Campaign (keep scrolling for my favorites), and to celebrate the launch of their brand new Instagram and Facebook pages. launching a new collection AND two new social profiles is something to celebrate!

give them a follow on Instagram at @Chaps, and like them on Facebook here

to properly celebrate, Chaps hosted a launch party at the Ritz Carlton, which i had the privilege of attending. it was an evening of Boston inspired hors d'oeuvres and cocktails, great people, great views of Boston Common, and must-have looks for spring.

i am wearing a version of what i wore to the event here. rather than a light wash jean, i opted to pair my striped Chaps top with the same navy jacket, plus dark jeans and a pair of fun leopard flats for a more evening-appropriate look.

i also wanted to share a few of my favorites from Chap's Spring 2016 campaign. i'm so excited they chose my home (Boston!) as the campaign's backdrop. here's the beautiful Beacon Hill: home of some of the most charming brownstones, adorable coffee shops and antique stores.

hey girl! nice top!

the spring collection stays true to the Chaps carefree, yet perfectly preppy style, with plenty of stripes, and paisley. i also spy peeks of gingham as well as a red and black bandana print

a closer look at the striped top i'm wearing. i especially love the faded blue and lace up detailing (very on trend). a girl can never have too many stripes in her closet --

TIP: stripes and polka dots go together like PB&J.

Chaps had two artists there to live draw our outfits -- it was one of the coolest parts of the event, especially because i've never experienced that before!

here's the final product: an amazing illustration of me and the look i wore (!!!) by the very talented, and incredibly sweet Michelle Barron. you must check out more of her work here, and you should follow her on instagram here.
